Frequency/Deadlines Cycle I - 2/12; Cycle II - 6/12; Cycle III - 10/12
Amount The total amount to be awarded by the participating ICs and the number of awards will depend upon the quality and merit of applications received and the availability of funds.
Duration The candidate must demonstrate and justify the need for a three, four, or five-year period of additional supervised research experience.
Qualifications Any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research and career development activities is invited to work with his/her mentor and sponsoring institution to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH programs. However, for the NIH K01 program the following eligibility requirements apply to individuals who seek to become Research Scientist Development Award recipients (Principal Investigators).
